The Team

Who is behind RunningWithAI

RunningWithAI was born from the urge to bring together two passions that often stay separate: running and technology. We are a small team that believes artificial intelligence, when applied well, can make running training smarter, safer, and more accessible to everyone — not only those who can afford a professional coach.

Coach Carlos

Founder, Editor-in-Chief

Amateur runner, passionate about running for many years. I started like most people — knowing nothing about pace, effort zones or periodization — and learned the science of training through trial and error, reading books by Jack Daniels, Pete Pfitzinger and Steve Magness, and speaking with coaches and physiotherapists.

In parallel, I have always worked with technology and followed closely the evolution of artificial intelligence. When I realised how well modern AI models can personalise recommendations from real data — pace, distance, heart rate, perceived effort — it made total sense to bring the two worlds together.

RunningWithAI is the result of that combination: a site that blends what is known about training science with modern periodization algorithms, to give any runner an accessible "digital coach." Every blog post passes through my hands — I research it, write it, review it and update it — based on the best sources I can find.

Background

  • Amateur runner for several years (5K, 10K, half marathon)
  • Continuous reading of scientific literature and reference books: Daniels Running Formula, Advanced Marathoning (Pfitzinger), Science of Running (Magness)
  • Professional background in technology and software
  • Editorial focus: evidence-based training, sports nutrition, recovery

How we work

All information published on RunningWithAI is reviewed before going live. We rely on primary sources whenever possible: peer-reviewed studies, reference books in running training, and guidelines from recognised organisations (NHS, ACSM, IAAF/World Athletics).

The blog is updated regularly. If we find new information that contradicts what we wrote, we correct the article and keep the update date visible at the top. We do not erase history.

No article replaces professional medical advice. All articles about nutrition, recovery or health carry a clear medical disclaimer at the top. Before significantly changing your training habits, diet or supplementation, please consult your doctor or a certified health professional.
